To prepare for the next reading, reset the max hand by pressing one time on the reset button at the top off-center (for Model 2000 rotate reset knob until both hands meet).
This places the max hand in position for testing.
Hold the durometer in a near-vertical position and press the foot of the gauge firmly against the specimen, (but not so firmly as to imbed the foot into the surface of the material).
The max hand will indicate the durometer reading instantaneously.
The regular dial hand may recede from this maximum reading after a few seconds.
This indicates creep or cold-flow of the specimen.
Note: maximum reading from max . hand and also note creep reading after a given time delay while maintaining firm contact of the foot against the specimen.
An example of a properly noted durometer reading: "Durometer A 61, Creep 7 at 15 seconds, 73 F."
Repeat above steps for each use.
At Rest Position: 90-95 (Types A, B, and 0), 0 (Types C, D, and DO)
