Procedure
- To prepare for the next reading, reset the max hand by pressing one time on the reset button at the top off-center (for Model 2000 rotate reset knob until both hands meet).
- This places the max hand in position for testing.
- Hold the durometer in a near-vertical position and press the foot of the gauge firmly against the specimen, (but not so firmly as to imbed the foot into the surface of the material).
- The max hand will indicate the durometer reading instantaneously.
- The regular dial hand may recede from this maximum reading after a few seconds.
- This indicates creep or cold-flow of the specimen.
- Note: maximum reading from max . hand and also note creep reading after a given time delay while maintaining firm contact of the foot against the specimen.
- An example of a properly noted durometer reading: "Durometer A 61, Creep 7 at 15 seconds, 73 F."
- Repeat above steps for each use.
- At Rest Position: 90-95 (Types A, B, and 0), 0 (Types C, D, and DO)
